Diagnosis: Statistics: Likelihood ratio
• The likelihood ratio of a positive test result is the odds of getting a positive result in a diseased patient, and the likelihood ratio of a negative test result is the odds of getting a negative result in an unaffected patient.
• The likelihood ratio can be used to determine the post-test probability of a test result.
Pretest odds (disease prevalence) × likelihood ratio = post-test odds.
