1192) What causes the vascular phenomenon shown?

• Mainlining is injection of drug into a vein. It may be associated with palpably nodular perivascular granulomas associated with injected foreign material and superficial injection-induced infections.

• Marbling is a feature of putrefaction in which the subcutaneous vessels are highlighted by the bacteria and their waste products that are growing throughout the nutrient-rich vascular system.

• Skin popping is injection into the subcutaneous tissue or muscle.
